8th Jan - Pastoral Letter

Dear faithful of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur,

A Blessed New Year 2022!

This weekend we see transitions as most of our Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur clergy take on their new parish assignments. We pray for all our priests who are moving into new parishes. For them and their Ministries, we praise and thank God.

We keep in mind that our priests have been ordained to serve the needs of the entire Archdiocese and not to be permanently rooted at a particular parish.

We thank God for the current priests that you have had in your respective parishes. Do continue to pray for them and their new ministry even as they leave. Thank you for nurturing them as they have nurtured you too.

We welcome all newly appointed priests to the parishes. I seek your support, cooperation and encouragement for the newly assigned clergy. Bear in mind that he won’t be identical to your former priest and undoubtedly, he won’t be perfect. Please refrain from making comparisons.

Dear Fathers, as you prepare to move to your next parish after this weekend, I want to thank you for your dedicated service, care and sacrifices you have rendered to those under your charge. May the challenges you faced be stepping stones to becoming better pastors.

I pray you will give your best in the next parish you are assigned to, to build up the community, to seek out the lost, bandage the wounds of the injured and be a unifier of the parish.

United in prayer with each of you.

“Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.” (Acts 20:28)

Given this day 8th of January of the Year of Our Lord 2022.
Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

Your shepherd in Christ,

+ Most Reverend Julian Leow Beng Kim, D.D.
