This is an extract from the Chancery Notice on 25th February 2022 - Guidance for Ash Wednesday

  • It is recommended that the priest takes the ashes and sprinkles them on the head of each one present without touching the person. The sprinkling of ashes on the top of people's heads, rather than marking foreheads with ashes, is customary practice in some parts of the world.

The Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur was erected as the Diocese of Kuala Lumpur by Pope Pius XII on 25 February 1955, and was elevated to the rank of a Metropolitan Archdiocese on 18 December 1972, with the suffragan sees of Melaka-Johor and Penang.
