Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace

SouthSudanOur Holy Father Pope Francis has called for a Day of Prayer and Fasting on the First Friday of Lent (23rd February 2018), for peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan.

His Grace Archbishop Julian Leow is inviting the clergy, religious and faithful of the Archdiocese to be united with the Holy Father in prayer and fasting on that day.

Kindly include the prayer intention for peace in these war-torn countries during your Mass, Holy Hour and Way of the Cross this Friday.

You may use the following prayer:

We pray for peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan. That the citizens of these war-torn nations may live free from violence, in safety and security, and with hope for the future.
For this we pray to the Lord ...

Alternatively, you may come up with your own prayer for the said intention.

Would appreciate if you could kindly disseminate this information to the faithful via your respective parish websites/social media, BECs etc.

Kindly also refer to the link below for more details on the Holy Father's announcement for this Day of Prayer and Fasting (click here).

Thank you.

Yours in Christ,
